About Us...
Nicole English (email: EnglishN@umkc.edu), has background in Computers, Journalism/Photography/Videography, Communication Studies, Sociology, and Psychology. Daughter of a teacher of Dance and Languages, she has degrees in Data Processing, Business Management, Communication Studies, Philosophy, and Psychology. In computers, she qualified to be a DOE SERS Program Intern at Argonne National Labs in Chicago, working as a programmer in the Reactor Analysis Division. Later, she returned to KC and worked for UMKC Computing Services (now Informations Services) for 8 years, and for the Computer Science Dept. (now SICE) for 2 years. She has worked on the Internet since 1990, and the Web since 1993. She also has been a professional dancer most of her life. She is currently finishing an Interdisciplinary PhD degree at UMKC involving the use of the Web.
Mike Strong (email: StrongM@umkc.edu), currently teaches digital technology and New Media classes for PACE, including Web Radio and digital video editing. He has been both a professional photographer and professional Computer Programmer for 30-odd years, including 2 years for the Computer Science Dept. (now SICE). Among the classes he taught for the BIT program were CS100 and IT222 (which was created by him and Nicole English). He has also been a professional Photographer, Journalist, Radio Broadcaster, and Artist. He enjoys Social Dancing very much and maintains a nationally recognized Web site on Social Dancing in the Kansas City area (www.KCDance.com), as well as a Web site devoted to his photographic artwork (www.ArtfulDancer.com). He has worked on the Web since 1993. As a professional videographer, he is certified as legal videographer (AGCV), and does video editing for various professional dance companies in the KC Metro Area, including KC Ballet, Wylliams/Henry Danse Theatre, City In Motion, Beth Byrd Productions, among others.
