  • These are online classes, and they are self-paced and can be done in whatever format (4-week or 8-week) you wish, as long as all materials are turned in by July 31.
  • In other words.... You may start as early as June 7th, and may finish as late as July 31.

General Info:

  • Current Students can access Quizzes on the Blackboard Course Content link (on the left side of your screen).
  • Reminder: If anyone needs to ask any questions or meet for lab support to work on any assignments, just send an email and we can work out.
  • Reminder: When you send email, to get a quicker response, it helps to put CIT105/6 first thing in the Subject line. Otherwise, you can get lost in the mass of daily email...!
  • See more on Organizational Meetings below.
  • Organizational/Orientation Meetings:
  • Each Section has at least one group Organizational Orientation Meeting scheduled for the first week or two of each 8-week Section.
  • Organizational Meetings are for getting a good a good start on the class. The good news is that you get bonus points for attending the meeting.
  • Organizational Orientation Meetings will be held in RH 314 Computer Lab (the smaller lab across from RH 303).
  • Alternative times for a make-up Organizational Orientation Meeting can be arranged by appointment, to meet in RH 314.
  • Most Tuesdays will be available for lab support appointments.
  • Other lab support times can be arranged by appointment, if Tues are not convenient.
  • Even though the classes are set up for 8 week schedules, you can choose to work at your own pace, on an 8 week (or 16 week schedule for FS or WS/SP).
  • Note: Since we lost our regular PC Classroom over the Summer Semester 2005, we are trying the classes with a new format... so it is still a work in progress...! So, bear with us...!
  • Any questions you might have, feel free to ask...!

  • Assignments will generally be expected to be submitted via email attachment to my email address, unless otherwise instructed. My email is EnglishN@umkc.edu for assignments or questions.

Information for Students with Incompletes ONLY:

Information for taking the quizzes for both classes can be found here. Those people who have Incompletes and who will be completing Quizzes under the old system, follow these instructions:

  • Log in with your UMKC UserID Username and the Password for Quizzes. (This password will be good only for these classes, to do quizzes and check grades for these classes only.)
  • If you have any problems, please send me email at EnglishN@umkc.edu and I will try to see what the problem is.
  • Quizzes can be taken twice if you wish to upgrade your score.

If you do not yet have a password for Quizzes, be sure to send me email about the password to use for the Quizzes. You need to do so ASAP, for you will not be able to take the Quizzes or check your Grades otherwise.

When HW assignments are graded, I try to have them posted by the following week. I generally work on them over the weekend. Occasionally, it may take a little longer to get through all the grading, but if you have any questions about assignments or grading, just ask.
