Note:
  • As of Fall, 2005, we have a new format for the classes. Instead of a lecture-classroom format, it is more of a Web-based format. The dates in purple above, are the days we have reserved a classroom as listed in the class schedule. These dates were arbitrary. As long as you arrange for an Organizational Meeting to get started, you have fulfilled your attendence obligation for the class, and you need not worry about the other dates... just do the work.
  • You can go to the Quiz page here to take quizzes or check grades. (You should start with a fresh browser when taking the quiz, and close it out afterwards for security reasons.)
  • Use your UMKC UserID Username, and the Quiz Password for your Grades page or Quizzes. Send me email at EnglishN@umkc.edu if you have any problems.
  • This Overview Table displays both courses, CS105P and CS106P, in outline form and represented in a table by Week. Topics to be discussed, quizzes, and assignments are all represented. (Remember that you are taking *2* classes, which each have their own HW assignments, quizzes, grades, and Finals.)
  • This is a suggested Calender Schedule for finishing both CS105P and CS106P, in one semester. You do not have to follow this schedule exactly, it is merely an example of how the assignments and quizzes can be completed over the course of the semester, as an aid to plan your own work.
  • Click onto the Lessons Part (designated by letters A thru O), in order to see more detail about that session's objective, and what part of the Lessons page corresponds to that session's Lesson.
  • All lecture notes and homework assignments can be found quickly on the Assignments Page link, which can be found on the Menu bar at the top of the page.
  • If you need to miss a night, you can come in on the alternate night to catch up on the lecture you miss.
  • This is only a tentative guide subject to change due to time, weather, complications, etc.
  • Assignments for reading textbooks are generally given the week before discussion. (DC refers to Discovering Computers text for CS105P, B refers to Blaase text for CS106P)
  • Homework assignments are due the week following their being posted.
  • Quiz and Chapter topics are generally presented within parenthesis, e.g. (Privacy).
  • The dates for this Table are more current and supercede any conflicting dates on the Lessons page (or due to unforseen complications).
  • CS105P items are indicated in light yellow in the Overview Table. CS106P items are indicated in darker yellow in the Overview Table.
  • Quiz items are indicated in Red. Project/Analysis due dates are indicated in Blue.
  • All Due Dates are negotiable depending on intervening circumstances (weather, family crisis, work responsibilities, etc.), except for Final Grades Due Date, (which is beyond the control of the instructor).

  • Instructor adheres to UMKC Policies of Student Conduct concerning Academic Honesty and Fair Use of sources for projects and papers.
  • Students who violate these guidelines will be subject to sanctions as outlined in section 200.010 of the Student Conduct Code. All such cases will be forwarded to the Primary Administrative Officer in the Student Life Office for appropriate action.
  • Students with disabilities are welcome to join the class. Students with disabilities should contact the Office of Services for Students with Diabilities to coordinate accomodations.
  • Please check the Academic Calendar for drop dates and Financial Aid deadlines. It can be found at this URL: http://www.umkc.edu/registrar/acal.asp .
