What are slide transitions?

Slide transitions are special effects used to move from one slide to the next during a slide show.

To be more precise, a slide transition is used to introduce a slide. For example, you can specify a slide transition for the first slide in a presentation, and that slide transition or special effect will be shown right before the first slide is displayed. With PowerPoint you can define a unique slide transition for every slide, but good style would suggest using the same slide transition for every slide.

The animated gif to the right shows an example of the Blinds Horizontal slide transition. (If you want to restart the animation, hit the reload button on your browser.)
